Gerald Madkins

Gerald Madkins is a seasoned basketball professional who has demonstrated a history of building positive connections across multiple settings. Presently, he serves as the Senior Director of the Bruce Bowen Basketball Camps. The instructional camps are designed to teach the fundamentals of the game to all skill levels, ages 10 through 18. The clinics have moved into Mexico with the goal of impacting more young girls and boys abroad. Also, he serves on the advisory board of the 44 Group, a mission driven organization dedicated to bringing focus to social equality issues while honoring coaching legends of color.
Prior to his current positions, Gerald served as the President of the sports division for Par-lay Sports. His main responsibilities were the preparation and execution of individualized player development plans and strategies in advance of the NBA Pre Draft combine and NBA Draft. Gerald enjoyed an 18-year career as an NBA executive with multiple teams. Most recently serving as the Assistant General Manager with the New York Knicks, where he coordinated the teams’ player personnel matters relating to the preparation of the NBA draft and roster development. Madkins also served in similar roles with the Los Angeles Clippers, New Orleans Pelicans, Houston Rockets, and the Seattle Supersonics.
During his front office career, Madkins played a role in drafting the overall #1 pick in 2011 Anthony Davis, former league MVP Russell Westbrook in 2007, multiple NBA Champions (Trevor Ariza, Channing Frye, David Lee, Serge Ibaka, and Anthony Davis), along with several other successful 1st and 2nd round draft picks. Madkins had a standout career at UCLA, where he played from 1987-1992. Madkins served as the team captain his junior and senior seasons. He departed UCLA ranked in the top 10 in games played, career assists, steals, and three-point field goal percentage for the Bruins.
Following his career at UCLA, Madkins played professionally for a total of eight years in the NBA, the Continental Basketball Association, Spain (ACB), and France (LNB). Following his pro career, Madkins coached at California State University Stanislaus and returned to his alma mater where he served as an assistant coach for 2 seasons (2001-03). During his second stint at UCLA, Madkins recruited or coached former NBA players Trevor Ariza, Ryan Hollins, Matt Barnes, Dan Gadzuric, Dijon Thompson and Jason Kapono.
